An Eye of the Beholder remake: a Unity-based real-time 3D reimplementation of the original data experience. Some people call it a remaster or a mod.
Behold the Dungeon is a Unity-based runtime reimplementation that loads original Eye of the Beholder game data files and presents them in a fully real-time 3D first-person experience.
The original game uses 2D tile-based rendering to simulate 3D space under early hardware constraints. This project removes those constraints while preserving the underlying authored dungeon data.
The result is a reinterpretation of the same world data as a continuous 3D environment with FPS-style movement and camera control.

1. Install the original game
Install the full DOS version of Eye of the Beholder anywhere on your system. Do not use the shareware version.
The installation must contain the required data files:
EOBDATA1.PAK through EOBDATA6.PAK.
Modded versions of these files may work, but are not officially supported. At this stage of development, no technical support can be provided for modified or unsupported data sets.
2. Download and extract Behold the Dungeon
Download the latest build using the link below and extract it to a folder of your choice:
Go to Download Section
3. Launch the engine
Run the executable. On first launch, you will be prompted to locate your installed copy of the original game.
Select the folder containing EOBDATA#.PAK files.
The engine will verify that required files exist. It does not currently perform deep validation of file contents, and assumes that presence indicates valid data.
These files are required for operation. The engine does not include any original game data and relies entirely on user-provided files to function.

This project does not include or distribute any original game assets, audio, artwork, or proprietary data.
Users must provide their own legally obtained copy of the original game files in order to use this software.
This may include, but is not limited to, a physical copy, an existing owned installation, or a digital purchase
from an authorized retailer, as long as the engine is pointed at a valid DOS installation containing the required
EOBDATA#.PAK files.
At the time of writing, the original game may be available through retailers such as GOG and Steam as a part of Forgotten Realms: The Archives - Collection One. Last time I checked it was about $10 USD. Only Eye of the Beholder 1 is suspported at this time.
Moon Bunny Games is not affiliated with neither GOG, Steam, nor any other retailer and does not receive any compensation, referral income, or revenue from sales.
